The Logan County Cougars won a five-school track meet at Russellville’s beautiful track April 25 while the Russellville Lady Panthers finished second in the girls division. The other three schools competing were Todd Central, Butler County and Trigg County.
Diamond Hines won both the 100 and the 200 for Coach Matt Tipton’s Lady Panthers. Demarcus Hampton won the same two events for Coach Dennis Sydnor’s Panthers. Hampton was also part of the first-place 4x200 relay team, along with Josh Hampton, Josh Bigbee and Johnny Drumgole.
Justin Rone won three field events for Coach Greg Howard’s Cougars—the long jump, shot put and discus. Korey Jaynes was the only other Cougar to win an individual event, taking the 110-meter hurdles. Jaynes was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team along with Taylor Rittenberry, Jared Hall and Devin Smith.
Rittenberry, Smith and James Cardwell were all part of two first-place relay teams. Also winning on relays were Matthew Scales, Andrew Gregory, Thomas Lyne and Cory Ford.
