After suffering their first loss in postseason pool play at Franklin Tuesday, the Logan County Little League All-Stars rebounded in robust fashion Wednesday, crushing Bowling Green West 21-7. As a result, they qualified for the single-elimination tournament as the number three seed, which was scheduled to begin on the Fourth of July, weather permitting.

Coach John Myers’ team banged out 15 hits, led by Macon Barrow with three. Jarrett Sears, Zach Yates, Braxton Baptiste and Blake Wood each had two hits while Jesse Price, Preston Hurt, Jaxon Hendrix and Trevor Scott added one each.

Yates pitched the first two innings with John Carter Meyers, Wood and Scott worked an inning each.

The night before, Logan lost 12-2 to Owensboro Southern. That improved Southern’s record to 3-0 while Logan fell to 2-1.

Logan had only five hits. The biggest was a home run by Camden Bond in the fifth inning. Scott, Wood, Baptiste and Sears each singled.

“We only struck out three times for the game, but every ball was hit right at an Owensboro Southern defender and they made the plays,” Coach Myers says.  Logan struggled on defense, committing five errors.

The winner of the single-elimination tournament will advance to the state Little League tournament in Prestonsburg.
