WBKO to broadcast WKU at UT Saturday

In collaboration with the SEC Network, local ABC affiliate WBKO will air Saturday’s WKU Hilltopper football game against Tennessee in Knoxville.

Broadcast time is set for 11:00 a.m. CT with an 11:21 a.m. CT kickoff to follow from Neyland Stadium. WBKO can be found on channels 9 (SD) and 908 (HD) on cable in Bowling Green, 13 on Dish Network, and 13-1 for viewers with an over-the-air antenna.

The Hilltoppers (1-0) and Volunteers (1-0) have met just one time in school history, during WKU’s first season as an FBS member. With their victory over Kentucky (0-1) last Saturday, the Tops because just the second school since 1987 to make the transition to the FBS to have a winning streak against SEC opponents

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TAILGATE IN KNOXVILLE: The WKU Alumni Association will host a pregame tailgate on Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Knoxville Marriott. The event runs from 9-11:30 a.m. EST in the William Blount Room of the hotel. The Knoxville Marriott is located at 501 East Hill Avenue, a 15-minute walk from the stadium. Food will be provided with beverages available for purchase.

DOUGHTY ON DAVEY O’BRIEN AWARD FAN VOTE:The Davey O’Brien Foundation announced today that the Davey O’Brien Fan Vote is now open. Fans are invited to cast their vote for the nation’s best college quarterback as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org.

Fans can vote for WKU quarterback Brandon Doughty as part of the fan voting for the award. Doughty completed 27-of-34 for 271 yards and a touchdown in his second career start and first since 2011 as he led WKU to a 35-26 win over Kentucky in the season opener.

The 2013 season marks the seventh year fans have participated in the voting. The Fan Vote counts as five percent during each round of the voting process and is combined with the results from the Davey O’Brien National Selection Committee, which is comprised of journalists, broadcasters, commentators and former winners. Fan Vote totals are cleared after each voting round.
