The Logan County Lady Cougars scored four runs in the seventh inning to edge Todd Central 6-5 Wednesday in a crucial district game. Coach Calvin Head’s Lady Rangers had eliminated the Lady Cougars from postseason competition last spring.

Freshman centerfielder Macy Meacham and sophomore catcher Reagan Cole started the inning with back-to-back singles.  After an out, sophomore pitcher Meagan Ferguson singled.

Then with two outs, the veterans came through. Senior Maddie Abbott and sophomore Sierra Morrow singled, and senior Victoria Cates followed with a clutch bases-clearing double to end the game.

The Lady Rebels scored four runs before Logan ever came to bat. Taylor Gilliand was hit by a pitch, Tara Walters sacrifice bunted and reached base, and Michaela Robertson singled. All three would score. After an out, Makayla Bilyeu walked and Shelby Dorsey reached on an error, resulting in the four runs.

Nadtalie Perry hit a solo home run for Todd’s other score.

Logan’s first run came in the second when Morrow led off with a singled, advanced on Cates’ grounder, and came home on Meacham’s single. Cole doubled Meacham to third but Meacham was out before she reached home.

Ferguson singled with two outs in the sixth. Courtesy runner Hannah Moore moved up on Shelby Milam’s single and Abbott’s walk and scored on a throw.

Ferguson, Morrow and Meacham each had two hits with Milam, Abbott. Cates and Cole getting one each. Ferguson, Abbott, Morrow, Meacham, Moore and courtesy runner Teanna Gray scored the runs. Abbott, Meacham and Morrow were credited with two RBIs each while Cates and Cole each got one. Working walks were Abbott, Cates, Cole and Brea Croslin.

For the Lady Rebels, Robertson, Perry, Bilyeu and Harris got the only hits Ferguson allowed. Walters and Bilyeu managed the only walks. Ferguson struck out four. She threw 101 pitches.

Walters went the distance on the mound for Todd, allowing 6 runs—all earned—on 10 hits and 4 walks with a trio of strikeouts. She threw 109 pitches.
