Coach Ethan Meguiar’s Logan County Cougars have won 8 of their last 10 games on the way to another outstanding season at 22-9.

The Cougars shut out Grayson County 6-0 Tuesday with Caleb Bruner getting it all started early. He drove in the only run Logan would need with a first-inning sacrifice fly and then he pitched the first six innings of shutout ball. Several teammates contributed, though.

Logan County scored four runs in the second on an RBI single by Joe Holliday, a groundout by Jacob Wood, an RBI double by Matt Harper, and an RBI single by Ian Woodall. Michael Riley got a hit in each of his four at bats. He singled in the second, third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Bruner kept Grayson County off the board during his six innings of work. He allowed three hits, four walks and struck out five. Riley pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

In support of Riley’s four hits, Woodall had three and Harper and Woodall two each. Hunter Britt doubled and Wood and Holliday singled. Wood worked the only walk Grayson pitching allowed.

Starting pitcher Jameson Vanmeter was charged with the loss. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed five runs. Zach Roberson gave up only one run over the final five innings. Vanmeter, Alex Shelhart and Logan Stevenson got the only hits Cougar pitching allowed.

Coach Danny Clark’s Grayson County team had won five games in a row and 20 on the season.
