Reds go 2-0 in Babe Ruth action

In the most recent Logan County Babe Ruth action, the Reds went 2-0, Big Blue Nation and Sky Blue 1-1 each, and the Green Machine 0-2. The Reds are coached by Travis Steward and Terry Crafton

Reds 9, Green Machine 8

Ryan Hudson doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Dillon Porter doubled and added three RBIS. Jackson Steward singled and had an RBI. Also recording RBIs were Kaleb Epley and Hunter Crafton.

Porter pitched 4 innings giving up 5 runs on 2 hits, 3 strike outs and 6 walks. Coming to the mound in the 4th inning, pitching to 5 batters and giving up 3 runs was Hudson. Also coming on in the 4th inning and pitching to 2 batters was Crafton.

The Logan Telephone Green Machines—coached by Jay and Ben Wright—banged out four doubles, two by Lane Berry and one each by Austin Gregory and Bradley Taylor. Berry parlayed those big hits into four RBIs while Taylor added two and Austin Rayno and Jack Wright one each. Unfortunately, the four doubles were the only hits the Green team managed.

Rayno pitched 3 innings, giving up 9 runs on 4 hits, 3 strikeouts and 5 walks.

 

Reds 8, Big Blue Nation 7

Eli Anderson singled in the winning two runs, after already having driven in one. Porter tripled, doubled and drove in three runs. Crafton doubled and had an RBI. Jagger Hales singled in a run. Zach Hopkins, E.J. Artis and Steward also singled.

Pitching 5 innings for the Red was Crafton, giving up 5 hits, 5 walks and 1 hit batsman while striking out 13.

Ashton Ross and Zach Decker had two singles each, the only hits the Blue team managed. Decker drove in three runs with Jack Campbell and Colin Sharpe each adding one.

The starting pitcher and going 4 innings, giving up 6 runs, was Devin Roche, having 4 strikeouts while giving up 6 hits, 3 walks and 1 hit batsman. Relief pitcher Decker went 2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

 

Big Blue Nation 9, Sky Blue 7

For the winners, Roche singled, doubled and drove in three months. Ross doubled, singled and added an RBI. Campbell tripled for the team coached by Shea Ross and Matt Roche.

Starting pitcher Ethan Smock pitched 3 innings, giving up 7 runs on 3 hits, 4 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

Jordan Blick tripled and singled for the Sky Blues, coached by David Woodall and Frank Lillard. Nate Woodall singled while Tommy Krohn had two RBIs and Price Brown one. Woodall pitched three batters, giving up 1 run on and 3 walks. Krohn pitched 1 inning, giving up 2 runs on 3 strikeouts and 2 hits.

Sky Blue 11, Green Machine 2

For the winners, Price Brown, Caleb Bell and Nate Woodall all three doubled and singled while Kobe Wall tripled. Wall made his hit count with four RBIs while Woodall and Bell added two each.

Winning pitcher Jordan Blick pitched 3 innings, giving up no runs on 1 hit, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Wall pitched an inning, giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 hit batsman. Devin Smith pitched  1 inning, giving up a run on a hit, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Finishing out the game on the mound was Clayte Weathers, pitching to two batters.

The Mean Greens hit five singles, a pair by Lane Berry and one each by D.J. Beard, Chandler Slively and McKinnley Griggs. Jack Wright and Griggs each had an RBI.

Pitching 4 innings and giving up 3 runs was D.J. Beard with 3 strikeouts, 0 walks, and 5 hits. Pitching in the 5th inning was Griggs, giving up 7 runs on 2 hits and 4 walks  Finishing the inning was Bradley Taylor, pitching to 6 batters with 2 walks, 1 hit and 1 run.
