Greens and Blues get colorful Babe Ruth wins

The Logan Telephone Mean Greens beat Big Blue Nation 8-5 while Sky Blue won over the Reds 12-8 in Logan County Babe Ruth action on June 19.

The Mean Greens banged out six hits—all singles—by Austin Gregory, Lane Berry, Chandler Silvey, D.J. Beard, Bradley Taylor and Evan Humphrey. Beard and Berry each had a pair of RBIs while Gregory and Humphrey added one each. Silvey, Taylor and Humphrey each scored two runs with Dillon Porter crossing the plate once.

Bradley Taylor pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 11 strikeouts.

For Big Blue Nation, Jack Campbell got two hits while Devin Roche doubled with singles by Zack Decker and Jon Allen Cherry. They each picked up an RBI.

Cherry pitched two innings, giving up 7 runs on 3 walks, 1 strikeout, 4 hits, and 3 hit batsmen. Colin Roche pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two. Ethan Smock pitched 3 innings, giving up 1 run on 1 hit, 4 strikeouts and a hit batsman.

Campbell scored two runs for Big Blue Nation with Decker, Cherry and Smock adding one each.

Sky Blue 12, Reds 8

For Sky Blue, Tommy Krohn had three hits, including a double, drove in a run, scored two, and pitched two innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks. Jordan Blick totaled two each of hits, RBIs and runs, and he came on to get an important out on the mound to close out the third inning. Mason Parker doubled, had three RBIS and scored a run. Kobe Wall singled, scored two runs and pitched 2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 1 hit, 3 walks, 1 hit batsman and 2 strikeouts.

Price Brown scored two runs and pitched 1 inning giving up 4 runs on 1 hit, 3 walks and 1 hit pitch. Clayte Weathers and Austin Epley each had an RBI and scored a run while Cody McElfresh drove in two runs and Nate Woodall scored a run.

For the Reds, who had won their previous two games, T.K. Hampton doubled, singled and drove in a run. Ryan Hudson added two hits. Jackson Steward had a hit and an RBI, scored two runs and pitched to the final four batters, issuing a walk and striking out one. Hunter Crafton tripled, scored twice and added an RBI. Eli Anderson had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Dawson Clark had an RBI and a run scored. Jagger Hales got the Reds’ other hit. Andrew Brendel and E.J. Artis both scored.

Hales pitched an inning, giving up 7 runs on 1 hit, 3 walks, 1 strikeout and 2 hit batsmen. E.J. Artis pitched 4-plus innings giving up 5 runs on 5 hits and 1 walk.
