Michael Crawford is an experienced teacher and coach at LCHS. He is head softball coach and assistant football coach at the school.

We have started a new club at Logan County High School to recognize student/athletes that excel both on and off the field/court. The Cougar Athlete of the Month Club will recognize a male and a female student each month.  Candidates for this club must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above, never have served time in ALC, and have good attendance. There will be a male and female inductee once a month and will be nominated and voted on by coaches of all sports, plus a few additional votes from faculty to help add diversity to the voting panel.

Students that are selected for this club will have their picture and attributes posted for one month along the front hallway bulletin board; they will also receive a T-shirt and certificate celebrating their hard work. Finally at the end of the year all coaches will vote on one male and one female winner for the Cougar Athlete of the Year Award. The winning male and female will receive a plaque honoring their achievements, and their names will go on a plaque that will be displayed in the school for years to come. The idea is to have a plaque where names can be added to it each year instead of individual plaques.

When nominating a player coaches will be asked to choose someone from their team who sets positive examples through their work ethic and displays leadership both during practice, in games and in the classroom.  Having a great game with amazing stats can be used to nominate a player, but my hope is that this award will recognize leadership and hard work more than just an individual performance during one game.

The winners for August are Luke Woodall and Catherine Miller. The following are their descriptions:

Luke Woodall- Senior-4.12 GPA, displays leadership on the football field and in the classroom.  Despite tough times during the football season, Luke always displays a positive attitude and winning mentality.Catherine Miller-Sophomore- 3.93 GPA, leads by example on the volleyball team and is a great role model in the classroom.
