Greenwood has beaten the Logan County Lady Cougars again in a volleyball match pitting the region’s two most successful programs in local v-ball history against each other. Coach Reels’ team won 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 Tuesday. The first time they played, the Lady Gators won 3-1.

For Logan, Chanler Steenbergen recorded 11 kills in 32 attacks, both team highs. Jaclyn Batchelor was second in both with 9 in 21 while Kerra Cornist was 5 of 10. Amber Carroll and Brianna Wooden added 3 kills each.

LeeAnn Coots had 21 of the 37 assists for the Lady Cougars, and Karrah Cron added 12. Cron, Kapreshia Powell and Steenbergen each had a pair of assists. Wooden was credited with 6 blocks, Powell 5, and Carroll & Cornist 3 each.

Catherine Miller had 22 digs while Carroll & Powell added 14 each and Steenbergen 7. Powell returned 24 serves with Miller and Carroll 17 each. The only other returns were 3 by Steenbergen and 1 by Kaliee Moore.

Coach Steven Lyne’s Lady Cougars are now 8-7 with six of the wins coming on a sweep of their three district opponents. Greenwood has the region’s best record at 14-6 but has a district and regional loss to South Warren, the team the Lady Cougars beat in last year’s regional finals.
