The commitment of Manhattan Capital Sports Acquisition to the state of Kentucky continues to show strong, as the group who owns the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Class-A/Tampa Bay Rays) announced their purchase of the majority interest in the Louisville Bats (Triple-A/International League/Cincinnati Reds). The investment furthers the commitment of the owners of the Hot Rods to Southcentral Kentucky, and the Commonwealth as a whole.
“When we purchased the Hot Rods, it was important to us that we committed to the region, and not just the baseball aspect,” said Managing Partner Stuart Katzoff. “The state of Kentucky has greatly supported both the Hot Rods and Bats, and we look forward to bringing exciting entertainment to both areas in the coming years. We believe in this state, and we’re committed to making two great venues even better.”
The commitment by Stuart and Jerry Katzoff, and Manhattan Capital, goes beyond their stake in the Hot Rods and Bats. In June, they purchased the Jennings Creek Apartments in Bowling Green from Hancock Bank & Trust. The Hot Rods also implemented mandatory community involvement for all club staff. The outreach beyond baseball has seen Florida-George Line draw over 13,000 fans to Bowling Green Ballpark, and numerous other community events ranging from Easter egg hunts to fundraising walks.
“It’s an exciting time to be involved with this organization,” said Hot Rods Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Adam Nuse. “In just the past 10 months, Stuart and Jerry have made three major purchases along the I-65 corridor, and their commitment to Southcentral Kentucky is clear. The energy put forth has been contagious, and our staff has had a ton of fun furthering our community outreach. We look forward to increasing our presence.”
In addition to the Hot Rods and Bats, Manhattan Capital Sports Acquisition LLC also owns the Reno Aces (Triple-A/Pacific Coast League/Arizona Diamondbacks). The Aces have experienced wild success since their purchase. Following the 2013 season, Reno was named one of the 20 most valuable franchises in Minor League Baseball by Forbes.
Hot Rods baseball will return to Bowling Green Ballpark on Saturday, April 18 against the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Indians).
