The Logan County Lady Cougars outscored host Edmonson County 19-12 in the fourth quarter on the way to a pivotal victory Tuesday at Brownsville.

The Lady Cougars led 14-11 after a quarter but were outscored 21-15 in the two middle quarters to trail 32-29 going into the final period. The final quarter was all Logan.

The comeback made a big difference in the teams’ records. With the win, Coach Scot MacAllister’s Lady Cougars improved their record to 11-9, instead of falling to .500. The Lady Wildcats could have reached .500 with a win, but instead fell to 9-11..

Jenna Wilson followed up her 20-point performance in a win over Trigg County Saturday with 17 points in this one. Michelle England added 11.

The Lady Cougars are off for a week before entertaining University Heights Academy next Tuesday and then playing the second game in a boy-girl doubleheader against visiting Greenwood on Friday, Feb. 20 to close out the regular season.

Logan’s boys

dug themselves too deep a hole in the first half and fell 53-39 to an Edmonson County team that has shown flashes of excellence this season.

The Wildcats led 28-11 at halftime. Coach Harold Tackett’s Cougars cut the margin to 14 after three quarters, and that was the finale in the Wildcats’ 53-39 win.

Twin Lancaster scored 13 and Troy Graham 10 for Logan, which fell to 4-18.

Edmonson improved to 15-8. The Wildcats’ wins include beating Owensboro Catholic in the Class A regional finals. ECHS also won a game at the Class A Classic.

The Cougars have two regular season games remaining. They go to LaRue County Saturday and play Greenwood at home Tuesday.
