Behind the pitching of juniors Jordan Hendrix and Hunter Crafton and the hitting of Hunter Britt and Michael Riley, the Logan County Cougars beat visiting Todd Central 11-2 Tuesday to start district play.

Hendrix pitched the first six innings to record the win. The two runs he gave up weren’t earned. He allowed four hits and a single walk while striking out eight. Crafton came in to retire the side in order in the seventh.

Riley had three hits and a walk; one of those hits was a double. Britt used his two hits and a sacrifice fly to drive in four runs. Matt Harper and Daniel Beaty joined Riley in doubling.

Also getting hits were Luke Woodall and Austin Rayno. Harper added two RBIs to Britt’s four, and Jackson Campbell and Rayno were each credited with an RBI. Campbell walked twice and scored two runs. Tucker Baldwin and Rayno also scored twice. Riley and Baldwin each stole three bases while cousins Campbell and Rayno added two each. Caleb Bruner had a sacrifice fly.

Connor Cole was the starter and loser for Coach Matt Baker’s Rebels. Jonathan Partlow got the final eight outs. Matt Guinn had two hits with Noah Bicksler and Josh Gant adding one each. All three of them stole a base.

Coach Ethan Meguiar’s Cougars ran their record to 5-1. Todd Central fell to 1-4.
