Although it didn’t count on district standings, the Logan County Lady Cougars picked up a win over a district opponent last Saturday. Coach Michael Crawford’s team beat Todd Central 5-4 as part of a four-game worksheet in the Blazer Invitational at University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville.

The top of the first saw Todd Co Central take an early lead, 4-0. A single by Taylor Williams, scoringTara Walters and Amy Brumfield, started the inning off. Coach Leigh Bristow’s team then tacked on more runs on errors.

The Lady Cougars got two hits each from Torrie Pollard and Meagan Ferguson while Sierra Morrow, Rachel Barnett, Rosie Kerchenski and Macy Meacham each singled. Pollard had two RBIs while Tristan Hales and Meacham were credited with one each. Pollard, Morrow, Barnett, Hales and Meacham each scored. Reagan Cole drew the only walk off Lady Rebel pitcher Tishe Lewis, who took the loss.

Meacham recorded the win for Logan County. She allowed four runs over six innings. Meacham struck out four, walked four and gave up six hits.

After the tournament, Logan County’s record is 4-10 and Todd’s 6-9.

The Lady Cougars lost twice to host and champion UHA. In a 4-0 Lady Blazer win, Logan threatened in the third inning. With one out Hales and Meacham both walked. After a force out, Pollard walked to load the bases, but UHA pitcher Lexie O’Daniel got out of the jam.

Morrow had two hits and Pollard one for the only two hits Logan managed. Hales walked twice and Pollard and Meacham once each. Ferguson took the loss on the mound.

UHA won the second meeting 5-1. Ferguson allowed one unearned run in six quality innings, but the Lady Blazers scored four runs off reliever Meacham in relief. Brea Croslin, Morrow, Barnett and Kerchenski got Logan’s lone hits and Ferguson scored the run.

Chelsea Cansler got two hits for Coach Keith O’Daniel’s champs, and Makenzie Miles pitched the win.

North Hardin beat the Lady Cougars 5-0. Croslin, Cole, Ferguson, Morrow and Kerchenski each singled for Logan, and Paige Jones reached on an error. Cole worked the only walk off Lady Trojan starter Brooke Mahanna.

Jones, a sophomore, pitched the complete game for the Lady Cougars.

The win over Todd doesn’t count in district seedings because it was in a tournament. Logan will try to get its first district win Tuesday when the Lady Rebels come to LCHS.
