New to the Russellville Lady Panther Basketball Program is the 3rd/4th grade ABA traveling team.

“This team was formed in hopes of establishing a young core group of girls that will be able to travel and compete in various tournaments across the western part of Kentucky,” explains Lady Panther head coach Calvin Head.

The team was selected from players in the Russellville Jr. Pro basketball league. The idea was created by Lady Panthers Assistant Coach/Jr. Pro Coordinator Cassie Reding.

“Coach Reding worked diligently in organizing the league and organizing this team so that they would be able to compete in the ABA tournaments,” Head says in praise of his assistant.

This team was coached by Ashley (Kees) Collier and Sarah (Higgins) Cheaney, who were basketball standouts during their high school and college years.

Coach Reding stated, "The girls in this age group are extremely talented and they were able to compete at a very high level in the tournaments that they played in. A lot of this credit goes to Coach Collier and Coach Cheaney as they worked very hard to teach these girls the game of basketball. The future is bright for our Lady Panther Basketball program."

Team members are Mary and Hannah Cheaney, A’miyah Collier, Addilyn Gorrell, Jadyn Snorton, Candace Baker, Jaylah Kees, Ja’Kari Clayton, Jordin Morris, Brinley Mason and Aeireona Yancey.
