Hunter Britt pitched a no-hit, no-walk shutout, and Caleb Bruner hit a grand slam as the Logan County Cougars slugged Todd Central 13-0 in a district game at Elkton Tuesday.

Britt pitched the full five innings, striking out eight. All but 16 of his 57 pitches were strikes. The only three Rebel baserunners got aboard on two errors and a fielder’s choice.

Bruner’s slam came in the fourth inning. Luke Woodall singled and stole two bases to start the frame. Tucker Baldwin walked and stole second. Michael Riley walked to load the bases. Todd starting pitcher Mark Brooks got the first out on a strikeout, and he got Matt Harper to force Woodall at home, but then Bruner got hold of an 0-2 pitch and sent it over the wall, scoring Baldwin, Riley and Harper ahead of him.

Bruner got his fifth RBI in a big fifth inning. Riley led off with a walk, Harper was hit by a pitch, and Bruner singled in Riley. Britt, Bradley Taylor and Woodall also singled, scoring two more runs.

For the game, Woodall was four for four with two each of doubles and RBIs, Britt had three hits and an RBI, and Jackson Campbell added a hit. Riley, Harper, Bruner, Taylor and Jose Arostegui scored two runs each with Daniel Beaty, Nick Wooden and Baldwin added the other three runs. Riley walked twice.

Coach Ethan Meguiar’s team stole a staggering nine bases with Woodall and Arostegui getting two each and harper, Campbell, Taylor, Baldwin and Bruner adding one each.

James Bishop and Jonathan Partlow were the Rebels who reached on errors. Dylan Wilkerson forced Partlow to get on base. Bishop stole two bases. Connor Cole pitched in relief of Brooks.

The Cougars improved to 12-5. Todd’s record fell to 1-9.
