Lady Cougars pile up big stats in 10 wins

The Logan County Lady Cougars are off to a great start this season, headlined by their second straight championship of the First Southern National Bank Christmas Classic this week.

Here are some statistical highlights of their 10 wins so far as provided by Assistant Coach Zack Simpson:

Logan 60, Todd Central 44

Rachel Barnett scored 15 points, Taleia Mason 13, Torrie Pollard 11 and Brooke Barnes 10. Barnes had 15 rebounds and Barnett 12. Ann-Meguiar Bouldin dished out 4 assists and Pollard 2. Barnes blocked 5 shots, and Cierra Johnson and Pollard made 3 steals each. Mason and Pollard were each credited with 7 deflections.

Logan 64, Hopkinsville 61

Pollard scored 22 points, Mason 12 and Barnett 11. Barnes totaled 11 and Barnett 8. Johnson and Pollard each had 4 assists. Mason made 7 deflections, Pollard 5, and Abbi Lindsey and Barnett 3 each. Johnson and Pollard each had 4 assists. Pollard hit 4 of 8 three-pointers while Jessica Hines hit all 3 of her shots.

Logan 53, Franklin-Simpson 27

In the first of nine games played without the injured Mason, Barnett scored 14 points and Barnes 13. Pollard added 9 points, 7 each of assists and deflections, and 5 steals. Logan Williamson hit all 4 of her free throws and added 5 deflections and 2 steals.

Logan 44, Warren Central 43

Barnett had 12 points and 11 rebounds while Barnes scored 8 and pulled down 11 boards. Pollard was the leading scorer with 15 points, boosted by 9 of 12 free throw shooting. Pollard also had 4 assists and Bouldin 2. Johnson recorded 3 each of steals and deflections. Bouldin had 3 assists. Karrah Cron had 3 rebounds.

Logan 64, Louisville Waggener 48

Pollard scored 12 points and had 9 assists and 8 steals. Barnett 10, Hines 9, and Bouldin, Williamson and Barnes 8 each. Barnett had 9 rebounds, Barnes 8 and Hines 6. Johnson added 3 each of rebounds, assists and steals. Williamson was 6 of 7 at the line, Pollard 6 of 9, Hines 3 of 4 and Johnson 2 of 3.

Logan 63, Christian County 45

Barnes recorded not only a triple double, but she did it with room to spare. She totaled 20 points, 15 blocked shots and 14 rebounds along with 4 assists and a steal. Barnett also had 20 points. 12 rebounds and 2 assists. Pollard added 9 assists, 8 points and 3 steals.

Logan 69, Caldwell County 58

Barnes scored 19, Pollard 15, and Johnson and Barnett 11 each. Pollard added 10 assists and 2 steals. Hines had 4 deflections and Lindsey 2. Barnett had 7 rebounds, Johnson 6, and Hines and Barnett 5 each. Pollard hit 5 of 6 free throws, Barnes 3 of 3 and Barnett 3 of 4.

Logan 53, Central Hardin 28

Johnson had 11 points and Hines 9. Barnes had 9 rebounds and Barnett 7. Pollard handed out 5 assists and Johnson 4. Barnes and Johnson made 5 steals each and Bouldin 3. Additionally, Williamson, Hines, Lindsey, Cron, Sarah Beth Hale, Carlie Alvis, Blayke Bingham, Brittany Garrett and Jamica Key were all on the stat sheet.

Logan 59, Christian County 53

Pollard scored 16 and Barnett 14 to lead this second win over the Lady Colonels. Barnes added 9 points and Johnson 8. Barnes also had 10 rebounds while Barnett hit 7 of 10 shots. Pollard connected on 10 of 15 free throws and added 5 steals. Johnson had 5 assists.

Logan 59, Owensboro 48

Barnett scored 16, Hines 15 and Barnes 14 as Coach Finley Baird’s team made their 10th win a championship effort in the FSNB Christmas Classic. Barnes had 12 rebounds and Barnett 9. Hines hit 6 of 8 field goal attempts and 3 of 3 foul shots. Pollard didn’t shoot well but more than made up for it with 13 assists and 10 deflections. Barnes blocked 4 shots.

(In a 58-46 loss to Daviess County, Pollard had 24 points and added 5 deflections and 4 assists.)
