The Russellville Swimming Panthers were back in the water competitively on Saturday, Jan. 9. The team attended the Best of the West meet held annually at Bowling Green High School. Several of Coach Toni Hall’s athletes finished in the top 10 of their events. Individual swimmer results are as follows:

Morgan Bryant – 50 Free (32.44), 100 Free (1:16.56). Both of these are personal best times for Bryant – taking a little over two and a half seconds off her 100 free time.

Ben Slack – 200 IM (2:34.66) for 10th place, 100 Fly (1:10.49) for 10th place

Katie Paul – 50 Free (35.63), 100 Free (1:19.19) – both are personal best times for Paul.

Katie Holloman – 50 Free (30.87), 100 Free (1:08.87). Holloman took a little over 2 seconds of her 100 free time for a personal best.

Cole Celsor – 50 Free (28.62)

Dillon Porter – 50 Free (31.90), 100 Breast (1:21.95) for 10th place. Porter took 2.24 seconds off his 100 Breast time from the previous meet at WKU for a season best time in that event.

Kate Bouldin – 100 Fly (1:12.25), 500 Free (6:09.46) for 6th place

The girls’ relay team placed in the top ten for both of their events. Paul, Bryant, Holliman, and Bouldin shaved 4.96 seconds from their 200 Medley Relay time to place 9th overall – they were seeded 11th going in to the meet. The female swimmers only managed to trim a quarter of a second from their 200 Free Relay which earned them the 10th place spot for that event. The girls continue to reduce their relay times with each meet.

The swimmers will be back in action this Thursday night, Jan. 14, at the Carpenter Center. This will be a dual meet featuring the Panthers and the Cougars. It is also Senior Night for both teams.

If you haven’t seen our swimming Panthers in action, senior night would be a great time to do this and to help us honor our senior students!
