At least one more Clash of the Cats will be waged this basketball season. The girls teams would like to make it two.

Franklin-Simpson and Russellville were tied for the top seed in the boys bracket of the 13th District Tournament, which will be played at Russellville’s Jim Young Gymnasium next week. F-S won the toss Wednesday evening and will be the number one seed.

So, Coach Phil Todd’s Panthers are officially the number two seed. As a result, they will play the third seed, Coach Lonnie Mason’s Logan County Cougars. That game is scheduled Tuesday night. The winner will move on to Friday’s finals against Monday’s Franklin-Todd Central victor.

No tiebreakers were needed in the girls division. Coach Finley Baird’s top-seeded Lady Cougars will play Todd Monday. Coach Calvin Head’s third-seeded Lady Panthers take on Franklin-Simpson Tuesday. Winners will play Thursday’s championship game and move on to region.

Both Russellville teams play Tuesday. Logan’s teams will be in action Monday and Tuesday. They’d all like to play Thursday and Friday, too.
