Lady Cougars chop down Greenwood on Senior Night

Showing that they not only had broken out of their slump but had left it far behind, the Logan County Lady Cougars crushed visiting Greenwood 62-34 on Senior Night Thursday.

Coach Finley Baird’s team will play Todd Central at 6:30 tonight to start the 13th District Tournament at Russellville’s Jim Young Gymnasium.

The five seniors had big games again in romping last the Lady Gators.

Torrie Pollard had 13 points, 10 assists and 5 steals.

Taleia Mason scored 12 points and had 2 assists and a steal.

Cierra Johnson scored 11 points and had 7 rebounds and a steal.

Brooke Barnes had 8 points and 12 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and an assist.

Rachel Barnett also scored 8 points and had 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Also scoring were Abbi Lindsey, Ann-Meguiar Bouldin, Blayke Bingham and Brittany Garrett.

The Lady Cougars take a 19-8 into the tournament as they try for their third straight district championship. Coach Steven McGhee’s Lady Rebels are 10-16

Franklin-Simpson and Todd’s boys play the nightcap.
