The annual Strawberry Festival 5k and kids 1 Mile Fun Run will take place next Saturday, May 14. This event occurs every year and features a 3.1-mile run through the beautiful community of Adairville. Runners and walkers are both welcome for competition, and for completion!

Following the 5k run, children 12 and under have the opportunity to run a 1 mile fun run. Age groups for walkers include: 4-6, 7-9 & 10-12.

Race Official Sye Head states, "We look forward to the event every year, and are very grateful to Adairville Baptist for allowing us to use their facilities. We're hoping this race can jumpstart a trend of active lifestyles throughout the community of Logan County. This race is the first of many as we are working on hosting another 5k in Russellville the first of July."

The 5k run requires a $20 entrance fee, while the kids fun run is $5.

Race Coordinator Dylan Byrum says, "The proceeds of the event go to the South Logan Chamber of Commerce to support and build our youth sports programs, while also funding all events sponsored by the city of Adairville."

A goal of 100 total runners/walkers has been set.

Registration opens at 7 a.m.

The first 60 competitors to register will receive a complimentary Strawberry Festival 5k shirt. Awards will be given by age group.

There will also be a drawing of prizes for kids 12 & under.
