Logan County baseball catcher Jackson Campbell officially signed Thursday to play NCAA Division I baseball at Belmont University in Nashville. The following is a release from the school:

Belmont Baseball Head Coach Dave Jarvis and the Baseball staff are pleased to announce the signing of Jackson Campbell to a National Letter of Intent for the 2017-2018 season.

Campbell will head to Belmont as an integral member behind the plate. The catcher hails from Russellville, Ky. and currently plays for head coach Ethan Meguiar at Logan County High School. He's made a mark in the field throughout his high school career, earning numerous accolades for his play on the diamond. Among his honors are, Rawlings Preseason All-American, Under Armour Preseason All-American, Perfect Game Underclass All-American/All Region and 2016 Undercalss High Honorable mention from Perfect Game.

"We are excited that Jackson has chosen Belmont," assistant coach Aaron Smith said. "He will bring great energy and a passion behind the plate as well as with handling our pitching staff. He does a very good job with receiving as well as blocking the baseball. Campbell also is a plus runner as he has been clocked in the 6.5's while running the sixty-yard dash. We are excited about adding him to our 2017 recruiting class."

During his offseason, Campbell plays with the Knights Baseball club under coaches Eric Fruechtemeyer and Jason Anderegg. He also spent a weekend last summer playing in the Futures game, an honor awarded to the top juniors in 27 states throughout the nation.
