This week, 8th and 10th grade students will be participating in Operation Preparation. Operation Preparation is a joint effort of the Kentucky Department of Education and the Department of Workforce Development and provides a powerful opportunity for schools, students, parents and communities to collaborate in the process of effective advising and focus attention on the importance of planning for college and/or career.

We have numerous individuals from the community to represent multiple career clusters and pathways. Students will be rotating through their top three choices of career clusters to hear more specific details pertaining to those types of possible career choices. We want to thank all of our parents and community members who have committed to participating in this year’s event and we look forward to having them on our campus.

ACADEMICS

We will continue to administer diagnostic assessments this week for our students taking KPREP (middle school) and Algebra II and US History EOC exams. Last week, we wrapped up English II and Biology and I happy to report that we have seen some good growth.

For those of you who don’t know a great deal about our EOC exams, these are end of course assessments that are administered in English II, Biology, Algebra II and U.S. History at the end of the year. These exams count toward the student grades for a total of 20 percent of the final score for the course. These diagnostic exams will help our teachers identify potential areas of need prior to the testing window so that students can approach those exams as prepared as possible.

Students, thus far, have been very thoughtful throughout the process and we appreciate them understanding the serious nature of these events and working to their fullest potential.
