Every batter in the lineup got at least one hit as the Russellville Lady Panthers blasted Todd Central 13-2 at Elkton Wednesday. The nine players totaled 21 hits and 29 bases.
Senior Macy Meacham homered and doubled among her three hits and drove in three runs. Cierra Collins, Susanna Higgins and Lillie Newman all got three hits and an RBI each. Tonisha Hampton doubled, singled and picked up a pair of RBIs. Brooklyn Ray added two hits and two RBIs. Taryn Gray singled twice and added an RBI. Chloe Whitescarver doubled among her two hits. Tara Gilbert doubled.
The Lady Panthers stole 11 bases with Gray swiping three of them and Ray and Newman two each. Adding one swiped base each were Collins, Higgins, Gilbert and Hampton with one each
Hampton walked twice, joined by Higgins, Ray and Newman with one free pass each.
Gilbert pitched the first four innings and gave up a pair of runs—only one of them earned—on four hits and four walks while striking out three. Meacham worked three scoreless, two-hit, two-walk innings in relief.
Michaela Robertson and Emma Harris each had two hits for Coach James Rundall’s Lady Rebels while Paige Rager and Amy Brumfield picked up one each. Robertson scored both runs. Rachel Bilyeu walked twice while Jordan Weathers, Harris, Johnson and Robertson earning a free pass each.
The win for Russellville Coach Calvin Head came against his alma mater and the team he previously coached.
Last Friday, RHS suffered its only loss of the season so far, falling 8-1 at Edmonson County. Gilbert also doubled in that one with Collins, Meacham and Higgins each singling. Higgins, Whitescarver and Gray each stole a base.
