LCHS Principal's Report for Oct. 20

Logan County High School students with perfect attendance for the first quarter took part in an ice cream celebration Friday afternoon in the courtyard.

Extracurricular pursuits

Congratulations to the following LCHS groups:

·  Football team – District champions (In addition to the last two regular season games at home, we are scheduled to host each round of the playoffs up until the state championship game)

·  Volleyball team – District champions for the 15th straight year (Region draw will take place tomorrow and matches will be held at Warren East High School next week.)

·  Girls’ soccer team – Advanced to the regional semifinals

·  Boys’ soccer team – Advanced to regionals

The following activities are upcoming:

·  Logan County High School Archery will begin practicing on Nov. 13, in the High School Auxiliary Gym.  Practices begin at 6 p.m. and the archers should be there no later than 5:45 p.m. There is a required parent meeting on Oct. 26, in the Auxiliary Gym at the High School. This meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will not last more than an hour. Archers should also attend this meeting. Sports Physicals can be turned in at the parent meeting, but must be turned in before practicing.

·  The LCHS Cougar Band will be competing this Saturday, Oct. 21 at the KMEA Class 4A Regional Competition at the Hopkinsville Stadium of Champions. Cougar Band performs at 1:30 p.m.  A full lineup can be found at http://kyband.com/calendar/event/aaaa-west-regional/. We hope you can come out and support your Marching Cougars. 

SKYCTC is allowing us to send students to night classes in the spring semester. To be eligible to attend these classes, you must be completely college ready, have no discipline or attendance issues, and able to provide your own transportation. The classes will cost around $215 each (w/books). If interested, please see Mr. David Brooks. The deadline to have application completed is Oct. 30.
