Beginning Oct. 1, members will see a $2 increase on their monthly bill. The customer charge is a fixed portion of each bill that helps cover the basic costs of maintaining and operating the electric system—such as poles, wires, meters, and equipment. Pennyrile’s Brent Gilkey says, “Like many cooperatives across the nation, Pennyrile Electric is facing increased costs to deliver safe and reliable power. This modest adjustment does not affect energy usage rates and will aid Pennyrile Electric in the necessary investments in their system to meet the needs of the members.”

Helle and Thomeczek have super games for Cougars

It was Christian Helle, not his teammate we incorrectly named after the game, who threw the winning conversion pass to lead his Logan County Cougars to a 22-21 win over visiting Greenwood Friday. Also appropriate is that it was TySean Thomeczek who caught that winning two-pointer. On the night, Helle scored three rushing touchdowns, two in the first quarter and the other in OT. He carried the ball 30 times, for 119 yards, and caught 4 Luke Rogers’ passes for 14 yards. Rogers completed 22 of 30 passes for 206 yards without an interception. Ten of those completions were to Thomeczek for 135 yards. The winning catch—his 11th—doesn’t count on stats but the play is now one of the greatest in Cougar history. Carson Carlock had 9 tackles, 6 of them solos and 3 for losses. Elijah Sells also had 9 tackles and sophomore Michael Montgomery made a crucial interception.
