The Logan County Lady Cougars outscored Todd Central 15-2 in the final three minutes of the game, but that surge came a little too late in a 42-39 Todd Central win in the semifinals of the 13th District Tournament at Franklin.

The Lady Rebels shut down the LCHS offense for three quarters. They forced Logan to shoot from the perimeter while the Lady Rebels dominated their own offensive board. Logan cooperated by missing free throws.

The Lady Cougars led 9-7 late in the first quarter on two three-pointers by Addison Holloway and one by Ta’Kiyah Mason, but the only two points they managed the rest of the half were a pair of her eight free throw attempts by Brenley Adler.

When Todd Center led 22-11 at the half, the Lady Cougars hadn’t scored a field goal in the past 10 minutes.

The first two-point field goal of the game for the Logan ladies came with 5:52 in the third quarter on a Kyla Bilyeu drive as they finally penetrated the Lady Rebel defense.

Todd responded with a three-point goal by JaMya Kay and a bucket by Daymea Garrett. Adler got her first basket and added a free throw in the final two minutes of the third quarter, but teammate Reese Wetton was immediately assessed her fourth foul.

The Lady Rebels led 32-19 at the third break.

A 3-point play by xx Hampton started the Lady Cougar scoring in the fourth quarter, but Todd Central led 40-25 soon afterwards.

An important moment came for the Lady Cougars when one of Todd’s most valuable players, Kay, drew her fourth foul and Bilyeu hit a pair of free throws.

Holloway scored after a Wetton steal to make it 41-33 with 2:31. Mason reduced the margin with a steal and a goal with 1:55. Todd turned the ball over, but Chloe Collins drew what was deemed an offensive foul on Mason.

Logan cut it to a one-possession game when Adler made a steal and Mason put together a 3-point play with 1:06.

The Lady Rebels did a good job of maintaining possession for almost 45 seconds before Adler made another steal with 19.5 seconds. Wetton missed what could have been the tying thee-pointer.

With 15 seconds remaining, Kathryn Ballard hit a free throw to make the Lady Rebels’ lead four.

Hampton and Adler each missed three-point attempts. Wetton hit a free throw with 1.9 remaining, but there was no chance to go for the tie.

Taylor scored 19 points for the winners. Ballard added 9 and Kay 7.

Adler led LCHS with 9 and Holloway added 8. In their final game, seniors Mason and Bilyeu scored 8 and 6, respectively. Coach Dedra Adler’s team finishes the season at 15-15.

The Lady Rebels (15-12) advance to Thursday’s championship game against Franklin-Simpson and to next week’s Fourth Region Tournament.
