Freshman TySean Thomeczek pitched a five-inning no-hitter and Cougar batters used eight hits—four of them doubles—and five walks to bring in 11 runs and shorten the 11-1 margin victory over Ohio County.
It was the sixth straight win for Coach Ethan Meguiar’s Cougars and came as the opening game of the Kelly Russell Classic at Russellville’s Kelly Russell Field.
Thomeczek struck out eight but his five walks contributed the Eagles’ earned run.
Seniors Hunter Holloway and Brady Hinton each doubled and singled, drove in a run and scored one; Hinton also stole a base. Senior Noah Mosley doubled, got an RBI and scored. The fourth double was by freshman Lyndon Wilson, who also walked, drove in two runs and scored.
Senior Tate McLean singled, walked twice, got an RBI and scored twice. The only other Cougar to score twice was sophomore Bryar Gaddis, who also stole a base. Senior Eric Walker also singled for an RBI and scored.
Adding to the hit list were Tripp Wadlington, Noah Mosley and Thomeczek. Colin Wetton and Christian Helle each scored.

McLean had pitched the complete game win over the Tennessee team two days earlier.
Drew McLellan went three for three at the plate with a double and a triple. The only other extra base hit was a double by Mosley, who also had an RBI and a run scored.
Thomeczek, Wadlington and Hinton each singled in a run. Thomeczek stole the only base the Cougars attempted to gain.
Hinton had an RBI. Wadlington, Thomeczek and Wetton also scored.
