Two-thirds of the outs the Todd Central Lady Rebels made in a 6-2 district loss to Logan County came on strikeouts. Lady Cougar senior pitcher Addie Cartas recorded 15 strikeouts in the important victory.

Meanwhile fellow senior Madelyn Burgess led the offense with a home run among her two hits. She drove in two runs and scored two.

They were the only two twelfth graders that Coach Gary Gettings sent into action for what may be the youngest lineup in Lady Cougar history.

The only other extra base hit Logan got was a triple by freshman Kallie Taylor. She had an RBI and scored a run.

Eighth grader Macie Clinard joined Burgess with two RBIs. Singling with her were freshman Brenley Adler and sophomores Addison Holloway and Reese Wetton. Adler scored two runs, and Wetton scored the sixth run.

Cartas gave up the two runs on four hits and a walk while fanning 15.

Freshman Olivia Weikel pitched the complete game for Todd Central. Only two of the runs were earned. She allowed seven hits but didn’t walk anyone.

Dakota Gammon and Maliyah Merriweather each hit solo home runs for Coach Casey Williams’ team. The other hits were singles by Rylann Griggs and Naomi Welborn. Weikel earned the only walk in the game for either team.

Todd Central had won the team’s first meeting 19-18. The Lady Cougars are now 2-2 in the district and the Lady Rebels 1-2.

Lady Cougars win twice

Even though the Lady Cougars banged out 15 hits, including three triples, Cartas had to work an extra inning for the win in an 8-7, extra-inning over Butler County in the Mustang Stampede at Muhlenberg County.

The Lady Cougars went 2-1 in the event, finishing second among the four teams.

Burgess and junior Caris Taylor each tripled among their four hits; in fact, Burgess recorded a pair of three-baggers on the way to eight total bases. Kallie Taylor and sophomore Anne Owen each doubled. Kallie also singled, as did Caris, and they both had two RBIs.

Adler and Clinard each singled for an RBI. Also getting a hit were Sadie Violette and Wetton.

Scoring a run each were seventh grader Emalye Lowery, freshman Blake Curry, Wetton, Violette, Adler and Caris Taylor.

Madison Jones tripled twice among her three hits for the Lady Bears. Karrington Hunt added a pair of singles. And seventh grader Emmalin Mode singled in two runs.

Anne Owen also pitched a complete-game, one-run win in the Stampede with a 6-5 victory over a good Central Hardin team.

Adler had a super game at the plate, doubling among her three hits and was hit by a pitch, getting an RBI and a run scored. Burgess also doubled.

Also getting two hits each were Caris Taylor, Kallie Taylor, Clinard and Wetton. Freshman Ellie Celsor got the other hit.

The two Taylors scored a pair of runs each with Adler and Violette each adding one.

Owen gave up only two earned runs on eight hits and five walks. She only needed 83 pitches to finish the seven innings.

In their only loss, the Lady Cougars got seven hits but no runs in a 6-0 decision to Meade County, which went 2-0 on the day.

Caris Taylor and Holloway each had two hits with Violette, Clinard, Wetton and Kallie Taylor adding a single each.

Burgess was the starting and losing pitcher. Owen got the last seven outs, giving up one run.
