Cougars fall 26-6 at Allen County homecoming

For the second straight week, the Logan County Cougars avoided facing a running clock Friday in a 26-6 loss at Allen County-Scottsville. They had lost 35-0 a week earlier to Greenwood, and a 36-point margin is required to set the clock into continuous motion.

 

Cole Stanley scored the Cougars’ lone touchdown with 7:16 remaining in the fourth quarter. He was the leading rusher with 37 yards on 14 carries. Austin West gained 24 yards while Luke Woodall gained 11 yards on 13 tries and Joseph Olliges 27 yards on 4 carries.

Tyler Wright completed 8 of 13 pass attempts for 74 yards and Olliges was 2 of 6 for 5 yards. Kaleb Coursey was on the receiving end of 6 of the completions for 36 yards, Woodall caught 3 for 39 yards, and Billy Vick made the other catch for 4 yards.

Nate Offutt led the Cougar defense with 11 tackles, all but 2 of them solos. Stone Crowder and Vick each has 3 tackles, Stanley 4, and Colin Rostampour and Woodall 3 each.

Nick Brown scored two touchdowns for Coach Brad Hood’s Patriots on runs of 20 and 5 yards, and Ty Mutter got the other two on runs of 16 and 39 yards. Cainan Cox kicked two conversions. Mutter totaled 126 yards on 11 rushes. Jessie Bow completed 3 of 6 passes for 60 yards in the win.

Basketball star Morgan Rich was crowned the AC-S Homecoming Queen among 35 candidates.

Coach Steve Duncan’s Cougars will face three-time defending Class 5A state champion Bowling Green at El Donaldson Stadium Thursday night during the two-week fall break at LCHS.

Andy and Zack Woodall will broadcast the game live on WRUS.
