On Wednesday, August 7, the first day of school, students will return to Russellville Independent Schools to start a new chapter and transition into a higher level where they will grow intellectually and acquire skills necessary for success.

Students and their parents/guardians will be able to attend the following Open Houses:  Russellville High School – Thursday, Aug. 1, 5-7 p.m.; Stevenson Elementary – Friday, Aug. 2, from 5-8 p.m.; Russellville Middle School – Monday, Aug. 5, 5-7 p.m.; Russellville Preschool Academy – Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5-7 p.m. (The first day of Preschool will be Monday, Aug. 19.)

The string of events leading up to Opening Day is exciting for all who are involved:  school shopping, final late nights, and the wave of tears that hit when one realizes their child is in someone else’s care for five days a week.

Even though it doesn’t get any less nerve wracking, the staff at Russellville Independent Schools has been preparing for each students’ arrival before summer began. Many teachers have attended seminars and conferences, and volunteered time to meet and develop a plan to shift classrooms toward a more personalized learning approach.

The Russellville District will welcome students with new faces, coaches, technology additions, menu upgrades, and much more. For the 2019-2020 year, the District hopes to add to its internship/job shadow success, athletic achievements, and expand on the importance of literacy through the Innovation Approach to Literacy Grant.

It is also worthy to mention that Stevenson Elementary School will have Mr. Marlow Hazard as the Assistant Principal, a past coach and photographer for The Sporting Times, and Russellville Middle School will welcome Mr. Cameron Jackson as the new Principal.

Amazing things are happening with Russellville Independent Schools, and we hope to see you at the Open Houses for you to learn more about the groundbreaking year to come!
