Russellville junior-to-be Amiyah Collier was one of the biggest stars of the Pro Swings Power 50 elite softball showcase in Cookeville, Tenn.
Collier hit four home runs in five games while playing for the travel team Tennessee Mojo 05 before a multitude of college scouts.
Mojo 05 did not play well in its opener and lost to Fury Premier 6-1. They had a lead in the second game against the Alabama Firecrackers 05, but the score was 4-4 when the time limit halted the game.
The following is a wrap-up of the final three games published by a teach spokesman:
“Game 3 was against AASA-Pikas out of California. This team was stacked with talent and college commits. Our girls showed up with tons of energy for this game and the bats heated up.. We took the lead early on a missive 2-run bomb by A’miyah Collier, and continued to tack on runs throughout the game. Rylan Smith was dominant in the circle leading us to a 5-1 win.
“Game 4, we matched up with Mojo-Lunsford. This is another team stacked with D1 type talent top to bottom. We lost 8-6, but overall happy with the way we played and how we fought back. Both teams would score a run in the first inning. In the second inning Lunsford would add a couple more runs that we didn’t answer. Going in to the 3rd inning we were down 3-1.
“In the top of the 3rd they would hit a solo HR and a grand slam to seemingly put the game out of reach at 8-1 but our girls did not quit. In our next to last at bat we put some hits together and added a couple long balls of our own by A’miyah Collier and Olivia Treece to cut the lead to 8-6.. In our last at bat we got our first two runners on base but time ran out before were able to finish the inning.
“Game 5 late Saturday night was against Vexus Select - McCluskey. Again the girls had tons of enthusiasm and hot bats. We took the lead early on another A’miyah Collier bomb and would not look back. Skyler Rachal added a solo shot late in the game to give us some breathing room after Vexus had scored a couple runs. Again Rylan Smith was dominant in the circle leading us to a 5-2 win…
