A pavement and sidewalk improvement project will temporary has closed the Ninth Street at Main Street intersection the city of Russellville. The closure began Tuesday and the expected reopening is Friday, June 10.
Motorists should seek alternate route and add extra travel time. Message boards notifying motorists are in place.
The closure is necessary so crews can perform upgrades to the current pavement structure and construct new sidewalk ramps, says Wes Watt of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.. The pavement upgrades will improve ride quality by removing the current rutting taking place on the roadway.
Once construction is complete at this intersection, crews will work on similar improvements up the street at the intersection of Ninth Street and Nashville Street. That intersection will remain open with only lane closures in place.
