April is Child Abuse Awareness Month. Among others, some of the symbols of awareness and support are blue ribbons and blue pinwheels. In an effort to
increase awareness and support, Attorneys Corey Morgan, Ken Williams, and Neil Kerr will setting up Pinwheel Gardens in and around the community. The
Pinwheels for Prevention are blue and silver and are simply meant to stand out as a sign of support and hopefully raise awareness. They have 500
pinwheels on hand and plan to give them out and/or set up Pinwheel Gardens for any business or residence from which we receive a request or a "yes" to
their request.
Several years ago, the Russellville Rotary Club learned from the local Department of Community Based Services, that there was a need for cleaning
supplies. This need arises when children are removed from their home, or the parents are facing threat of removal, and among other conditions for the
return of the children, is the cleaning of their home. Many times the parents do not have the necessary cleaning supplies or even the money to purchase
the supplies. This is where the donations come in. The past several years the Russellville Rotary Club has collected cleaning supplies and donated them
to our local DCBS.
In order to facilitate the efforts of the Rotary Club, Attorneys Morgan, Williams & Kerr are accepting donations of cleaning supplies at their
office, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., throughout the month of April. Their office is located 190 South Blakey Street in Russellville. They are right
behind Walgreens and across from the new Justice Center.
The items needed include paper towels, toilet paper, bleach, cleaning solution sprays, sponges, dishwashing liquid, lice shampoo, and lice spray for
furniture.
There are some other projects in the works that they hope to share with the community once the details are ironed out.
