Doug Milliken, a retired Ag teacher from Logan County High School, received the Ag Teachers Change Lives Award at the 88th annual Kentucky FFA State Convention on June 7 in Lexington. This is the highest award given to an agriculture teacher.
Mr. Milliken attended WKU and received a Master’s Degree in agriculture. He began his teaching career at Chandlers High School in 1979. When Logan County consolidated, he continued his teaching career in agriculture, and then in 1992 Mr. Milliken began working as assistant principal but returned to teaching ag in 1999.
After 30 years in education, he retired in 2008. He has influenced countless FFA members in the classroom and out. He accomplished many things during this time to help FFA members meet their full potential through agriculture and FFA.
Ag Teachers Change Lives began in 2009 and Mr. Miliken is the first to receive this outstanding award from Logan County. A luncheon was held during the state convention in honor of his achievements. Four other Ag teachers from across the state were awarded with this honor. Mr. Miliken was recognized on stage during the convention for his hard work and dedication to Agriculture and his students’ future.
Mr. Milliken is married to Karen, a former teacher in the Logan County School System. He has two children, Melissa Milliken Inscoe and Joseph Milliken. Mr. Miliken is still involved with Agriculture through Logan County Farm Bureau, Logan County Cattlemen and their church. He still helps influence FFA members by substituting for agriculture classes at Logan County High School.
The Logan County FFA would like to congratulate Mr. Milliken on receiving this prestigious award.
