Motorists traveling on U.S. 68 throughout Kentucky need to be aware of the annual yard sale event which is along the entire stretch of U.S. 68 in Kentucky. The event begins Thursday, May 31 and goes through Sunday, June 3. Motorists need to use extra caution when traveling on this route while this event is going on.

Slower traffic, distracted driving, increase in pedestrians, sight distance limitations and unusual parking conditions are some of the challenges motorists will face during this event. Motorists should always be aware of their surroundings. Slow down and be on the lookout for pedestrians, especially children. Just like in a construction zone, pay close attention when traveling through an area where multiple yard sales are taking place.  Don't allow electronic devices to be a distraction.

Taking these simple steps can greatly reduce the risk of vehicle crashes and pedestrian strikes.
