Logan County’s basketball teams went on the road Tuesday and not only swept Allen County-Scottsville but each won by double figures.
The Lady Cougars won 59-48 with three Lady Cougars scoring in double figures. Reese Wetton scored 20, Brenley Adler 16 and Takyiah Mason 13. Kyla Bilyeu was right behind with 8 points. Wetton hit 7 of 9 field goal attempts, including 4 of 5 three-pointers.
Bilyeu pulled down 7 rebounds and Mason 6 for Coach Dedra Adler’s team.
Avery Morris scored 16 and Riley Roy for Coach Greg Dunn’s Lady Patriots. Roy had 10 rebounds and Debora Patrick 8 of AC-S’ 27.
The win evened the Lady Cougars’ record at 8-8. AC0S fell to 7-8.
The Cougars won with ease 66-44.
Samson Hightower led the way with 25 points while Davis Switzer added 12 and Jaxon Tichenor 10, hitting 4 of 5 field goal attempts and both pf his free throws. He wasn’t alone in recording impressive shooting statistics. Hightower hit 4 of 6 two-pointers and 4 of 9 three-pointers.
Tichenor hit 2 of 3 three-pointers, Tyler Johnson 2 of 4 and Switzer 1 of 2. Coach Josh Frick’s team hit 9 of 24 three-pointers for a respectable 38.5 percent.
While other shooting was good, the Cougars continued to struggle at the line, hitting half of their 26 free throws.
Hightower had 11 rebounds to go along with his 25 points. Nicholas Blann added 8 rebounds with Brady Hinton and Switzer adding 6 each of the Cougars’ 41 boards.
Frick used 14 players in the game. In addition to those already named, playing were Jonathan Baker, Kaeron Burr, Maliq Ford, Emir Ginez-Salpa, Damani Goodloe, Nicholas Thomas, Jeramiah Washington and Olijah Woodard.
Now 6-7, the Cougars will try to even their record and improve to 2-0 in the district at Todd Central (1-16) Friday. Ac-S fell to 5-10.
