With their thrilling overtime win over Logan County Friday in the first Clash of the Cats of the season Friday, the Russellville Panthers improved their district record to 2-1 and their overall record to 5-3 after going 0-7, 6-21 last year and 3-18, 21-61 the last three years.
Coach Carlos Quarles’ team was scheduled to play three games this week—Butler County tonight, East Robertson Tuesday, and a district contest at Todd Central Friday.
Those games are either gone or postponed, however, since both the high school Panthers and their middle school counterpart have had their seasons put on hold. They are being quarantined because of COVID-19.
The Russellville Middle School Lady Panthers were placed on quarantine last week and remain in limbo.
As of now, the quarantine of the boys middle school basketball team will expire on Monday, Feb. 8. The high school boys team’s quarantine will expire on Tuesday, Feb. 9. They are scheduled to visit Allen County-Scottsville that night.
Contact tracing will be ongoing through this week and this contact will be made by the Contact Tracing Team with instructions and a release date.
“We have talked with our local health department officials and provided them with all the information we have. We will continue to provide our community with as much information as possible,” says Superintendent Larry Begley.
