The Logan County Lady Cougars have reason to be pleased with their effort and results in summer practice and games.
The team went 4-4 at Asbury College's Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camp, finishing fourth. They had wins over West Jessamine, Louisville Moore, and Lawrence County (twice). Two of the wins were by over 20 points, those coming against West Jessamine and Lawrence (in tournament play). The Lady Cougars lost to Mercer County by 8, to Somerset by 12, and Lexington Tates Creek (twice), once by 9 and
again by 12.

The rest of  Logan's summer consisted of playing a single game at UHA, team camp at Louisville, and having a shooting camp at LCHS conducted by Shot Doctor. The Lady Cougars played three varsity quarters at UHA and were up by 16 points when the teams decided to end it.
The Louisville camp found the varsity going 4-2 with wins over East Ridge, Ashland Paul Blazer, Fort Thomas Highlands, and Mt. Notre Dame, which won the Ohio Division I state championship. Logan won that game by 20 points. The junior varsity went 3-2 in that event. Some of the players participating in Louisville were Kate Brooks, Polly Cowan, Katherine Eilers, Jazzy Elliott, Megan Lindsey, Kara Lyons, Shannon MacAllister and Taylor Morris.

Coach Scott MacAllister says, "The kids are giving a much better effort and realizing that we have to make up for our lack of size along with some skill deficiencies. They are overcoming those problems by playing harder and running faster. Our motto this summer has been, 'Shut up and play,' which the kids have done. No more whining or coming up with excuses-- just play, and they've played better for it."
MacAllister offered the following assessment of his key players for The Lo Jo:

"Ann Dorris has handled the ball almost every minute of every game and been tremendous with those duties as well as scoring.
"Michelle England has consistently hit more long range 3's and has been finishing off drives to the basket.
"Sarah Speck continues to display her athleticism and is knocking down some 15-foot jumpers.
"Kayla MacAllister has improved her game where she is hitting 3's along with the intermediate jumper, and getting to the rack and finshing.
"Victoria Elliott continues to be a defensive stopper, as she has had at least three-on-the-ball steals a game and finished up the summer by converting those layups and knocking down the free throws.
"Markita Pheal moved into a starting spot this summer, as she has been a whirlwind on defense. We're calling her 'She Hate Me,' as the other team's players do.
"Maegan Williams continues to knock down 3's and is working on that drive, while we've seen great improvement from her on the defensive end and intensity.
"Miranda Rone has added some offense to her game and is improving on the defensive side giving us solid minutes at the post, allowing us to move other people around."
